GUIDELINES AND RULES
This is a singing contest sponsored by the Downtown Brentwood Coalition (DBC). Our goal is to provide a wholesome entertaining environment for our community and provide an opportunity for local singers to showcase and share their love of music.
Eligibility:Any resident of East County, regardless of age, is eligible to compete. There will be two singing categories: Youth up to age 17, and Adults age 18 and up. Previous Brentwood Idol winners are not eligible
When:Competition will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013.
Time:Competition begins at 6:00 p.m.
Where:Downtown Brentwood on First Street.
Applications must be turned in to His and Hers Formal Wear, 625 First Street, Brentwood, CA, by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Only the first 25 persons registered will be able to compete.
This is a singing competition and is for solo vocalists only. Duets, trios, bands, etc., are not eligible. No rapping.
All contestants may sing A Cappella or to professionally recorded tracts, which the contestant must provide on CDs (please write your name on the CD) or iPod.
Lead vocals on the tracts must be removed.
Accompaniment by any form of live musical instrument is not allowed.
This contest is available to participants in two categories: Youth up to age 17, and Adults age 18 and up.
Contestants will be judged on vocal talent, stage presence, and entertainment appeal.
Participants understand that this is a family-oriented event and will avoid any obscenities either in music or actions.
The performances are not to exceed 4 minutes in length.
Contestants are to arrive 1/2 hour before the contest with their CDs or iPod.
Songs deemed inappropriate by judges may be scratched from competition.
There is no monitor allowed for the competition; lyrics must be memorized.
Contestants are encouraged to wear their “pop star” attire. Inappropriate attire will result in termination from contest.
This is a contest about your whole image of being a pop star or idol, your singing ability, your stage presentation, and audience response.
With your participation, we are assured another wonderful event supporting our downtown and providing our community with an enjoyable and entertaining experience.
